The Mining Industry Application Of Geomembrane

Apr 27, 2024

Geomembrane is widely used in modern mining industry, including gold and copper mines. The function of the geomembrane is to provide an impervious barrier to prevent the leakage of water and other liquids that may be contaminated by mining activities.

Gold mining how to deal with the waste generated in the mining process is a big engineering problem. Engineering waste needs to be controlled in an environmentally sound manner. The geomembrane achieves this by storing and forming a barrier between the tailings and the environment. It prevents any potential harm to the surrounding ecosystem and groundwater system.

Geomembrane also plays an important role in the construction of gold impregnated pile impregnated mat. Heap leaching pads are used to extract gold from low-grade ore by adding a cyanide solution to the ore. The cyanide solution leaches out the gold, which is then collected and processed. Geomemes line the sides and bottom of the pile leach mat to prevent soil erosion and cyanide solutions from seeping into the groundwater system.

Another function of geomembranes in gold mines is to protect workers and mine infrastructure from exposure to harmful substances. Geomembrane acts as a protective layer between tailings and workers or underground tunnels.
