1. Site Preparation
DO:
✔ Laser-level subgrade to 1-2% slope toward drainage
✔ Remove all sharp objects >3mm (roots/stones)
✔ Compact soil to 95% Proctor density
DON'T:
✘ Install over frozen or saturated ground
✘ Skip geotextile underlay on rocky substrates (recommended: 300g/m²)
2. Liner Handling
DO:
✔ Unroll with dimpled side down (if textured)
✔ Allow 24-hour acclimation in installation area
✔ Use walk-on boards during deployment
DON'T:
✘ Drag liner across rough surfaces
✘ Leave exposed to UV >72 hours before covering
3. Seaming Protocol
Hot Wedge Welding:
Temperature: 350-400°C
Speed: 1.5-2.0 m/min
Dual-track width: 20mm ±2mm
Field Tests:
Air lance: 2 bar pressure check
Peel test: Minimum 22 N/mm (ASTM D6392)
4. Anchoring Details
| Location | Method | Specification |
|---|---|---|
| Perimeter | Anchor trench | 300mm(W)×500mm(D) with 500mm fold-back |
| Pipe penetrations | Boot seals | 100mm overlap + mastic tape |
| Slope transitions | Concrete deadman | Every 5m on >15° slopes |
5. Protection Measures
Immediate Covering:
Water: Minimum 300mm depth
Soil: 150mm clean sand layer + geotextile
Equipment Restrictions:
No tracked vehicles directly on liner
Maximum 75mm tire tread depth
6. Common Failure Causes
Wrinkles → Hydrostatic pressure buildup
Improper seams → 80% of leaks originate here
Poor drainage → Frost heave damage
Emergency Repair Kit Contents:
Self-adhesive patches (150×150mm)
Butyl tape (50mm width)
Solvent wipes
(Complies with IAGI and GSI installation standards)
